Ludmila Popper founded her accounting firm in 2012. Her mission is to better people’s lives financially. She has earned two master’s degrees—one in accountancy from the University of Nevada, Reno, and the other is a Master of Arts in French/English from Rostov Pedagogical University in her home country of Russia. She has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 2007 and holds the Professional Financial Specialist (PFS) designation. She is also a long-standing member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Nevada Society of CPAs (NVCPA).
Prior to forming her own accounting firm in Reno and Incline Village, Ludmila was senior auditor at Deloitte in Reno, then a partner at Crandall & Company CPAs in Reno. Her strong educational background and financial experience serve individuals and small businesses in all financial aspects.
Ludmila was named “The 2005 Top Nevada CPA Scoring Candidate” when she sat for her CPA exams—a title which makes her especially proud. When preparing for the exam, Ludmila was inspired by Charles Carlslaw, one of her favorite UNR accounting professors who had scored the second in the nation on the CPA exam at that time.
A natural educator, Ludmila extends her expertise and knowledge to various organizations in the Reno/Tahoe community. Ludmila serves as Treasurer for the nonprofit CYMBAL (Club for Youth Music and Band Lovers) Foundation and as Vice President for the Estate Planning Council of Northern Nevada.
She has also previously been involved with various other nonprofits, including the Reno Chapter of Nevada Society of CPAs, where she served as chapter president in 2012-2013; Reno Tahoe Express Network of American Business Women’s Association, where she was treasurer and named Reno Tahoe Express Chapter’s Woman of the Year in 2014 for her dedication to the community; and the Incline Elementary School PTA, where she was treasurer from 2016 to 2018.
Ludmila is proficient in four languages and is currently studying her fifth: Italian. She is a firm believer in the importance of work-life balance and has been working on restoring her ability to play Rachmaninov’s Prelude in C Sharp Minor (Difficulty Level 18) which was part of her graduation work back in high school in Russia. When she’s not crunching numbers, Ludmila enjoys traveling the world, skiing, yoga, and meditation. She is also an avid concert goer with interest in classical music, opera, and Broadway shows.

Julia joined Ludmila CPA in January 2020, and she also operates her own bookkeeping and consulting firm, JW Accounting Pro, which she founded in 2017 after discovering the need for accounting and controller support for small and mid-sized companies in the greater Tahoe area. Prior to that, her experience includes more than 20 years in the hospitality industry, with companies including The Ritz-Carlton and Tahoe Luxury Properties, which helped her to develop a solid background in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and managerial accounting, and her work as a financial controller led her to manage the financials for multimillion-dollar residential units, luxury villas, and operational departments, from day-to-day bookkeeping to budgeting and forecasting. Born in Germany, Julia’s unique blend of educational experiences includes a Swiss Higher Diploma in hospitality management, a Bachelor of Arts in hotel management from Washington State University, a Spanish-language diploma from the University of Granada in Spain, a culinary arts certificate from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, and, in summer 2019, a Master of Science in Accountancy from Sacramento State University.
